The present study was aimed to determine the effects of different doses of Carbamazepine (CBZ) (Tegretol) on the organs testes and epididymis parameters of albino Swiss mice. The study sample included 24 male mice divided into 4 groups Mice of groups 1, 2 and 3 were orally administrated with a daily dose 2.5, 5 and 10 mg/kg bw, Carbamazepine respectively, while group 3 served as control and administrated with 0.1 ml distilled water. The treatment continued for 60 days. Carbamazepine as a drug used in the treatment of epilepsy and neuropathic pain has been shown to stimulate the effects of free radicals and cause reproductive disorders. The present study investigates the effects of carbamazepine medication on serum sex hormones(Prolactin, LH , FSH and Testosterone) and some of sperm parameters such as(sperm count, motility, abnormality and viability) The results show that treatment with (CBZ) significant decrease (p0.05) in sex hormones levels, also observed significant decreasing (p0.05) in sperm count, sperm motility , when compared to that of normal control. The tests of the sperm morphology showed a number of deformations as a result of the treatment, such as the appearance of wavy tail, folded tail and amorphous head with hook tail. It can be concluded that sub-acute exposure to Carbamazepine exerts negative effects on testes and epididymis parameters of treated mice .
